ORIGNTD / C2PA guide
What is C2PA?
C2PA is an open technical standard for attaching signed, tamper-evident provenance records to digital content.
Content Credentials can describe where a file came from, which tools handled it and whether the signed record still matches the file you received.
What a C2PA check can establish
- Whether supported Content Credentials were found
- Whether the signed credential still binds to this file
- Which supported origin and editing declarations are present
- What was not checked or cannot be concluded
What C2PA cannot prove
C2PA does not prove factual truth, ownership or legal clearance. Missing provenance does not prove human authorship.
